Reporting to the Practice Group Head Regulatory Advisory, as our Head of Financial Crime Legal, you will provide, and oversee the provision of, financial crime legal services to stakeholders across NAB.
You will also be part of the Practice Group Leadership Team. Much of the Financial Crime Legal team’s work is focused on anti-money laundering/ counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) law, with the team also providing advice regarding sanctions and anti-bribery/ corruption laws. Additionally, we advise on associated regulatory engagement and other risks.
Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to:
Lead senior lawyers by modelling NAB’s Service Behaviours, bringing a customer-centric approach to your work, providing effective and regular coaching, and identifying development needsProvide and oversee the provision of financial crime legal advice by the Financial Crime Legal team. This includes the provision of subject matter expertise and legal advice on AML/CTF, sanctions and anti-bribery laws and associated regulatory issues to NAB GroupAdvise on updates to NAB Group policy and procedure in relation to financial crime, including the NAB Group AML/CTF ProgramSupport initiatives aimed to ensure that the Financial Crime domain is simple, fast, resilient and more customer focused, whilst meeting legal and regulatory requirementsProactively identify legal, regulatory and reputational risks to the businessContribute effectively as a member of the Financial Crime Legal team and Regulatory Advisory Practice Group Leadership TeamBe a role model, demonstrate NAB’s Service Behaviours and bring a customer-centric approach to your work
We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:
Practising lawyer with 12+ years PQE (current Australian Practising Certificate required)Prior experience providing financial crime legal advice (including AML/CTF, anti-bribery and/ or sanctions laws) is essentialExpertise in areas of law that are complementary to financial crime is desirable. Complementary areas include advising on financial products and services, banking and payments or comparable regulatory contextsPrior experience leading and managing teams will be looked upon favourablyExcellent organisational skills, including prioritisation and time managementOutstanding communication (verbal and written) skills with the ability to engage, influence and facilitate effective conversations with stakeholders at all levels
