Senior Finance Manager

The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for the overall financial management, reporting and compliance of Big Dutchman Australia with offices located in Bendigo, Brisbane and Toowoomba. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, BD Australia, with a functional reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, Asia, this role plays a key part in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance and effective financial governance in a matrix environment. Take ownership of the Australian finance function and work closely with the Shared Services Centre in Malaysia to ensure effective financial management and compliance. Located within our Bendigo office this role will enjoy the benefits of a relaxed office environment and vibrant culture. The successful candidate will be expected to remain hands-on in day-to-day financial operations while coordinating closely with the shared services team in Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Lead financial accounting and reporting in close coordination with shared services centre in Malaysia. 

• Ensure full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including corporate tax return, transfer pricing , GST, PAYG withholding, payroll tax, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and other taxation obligations. 

• Review financial analyses and variance reports and provide financial guidance and support for turnkey projects. 

• Manage cash flow, banking relationships and treasury-related activities. 

• Maintain and enhance internal controls, financial policies and procedures. 

• Review, monitor and support general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control activities performed in conjunction with the Shared Services Centre. 

• Prepare audit documentation and liaise with external auditors. 

• Provide financial analysis, variance reporting and project financial support. 

• Support contract review and standardisation from a financial and compliance perspective. 

• Manage annual insurance renewal, ensuring optimal risk coverage. 

• Support on legal matters. 

• Support on other administrative matters. 

 Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Certified Practicing Accountant / Chartered Accountant preferred. 

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a project‑based or construction/engineering environment. 

• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation and compliance. 

• ERP system experience required; SAP experience highly regarded. 

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently in a matrix organisation. 

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
