The Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS) is looking for an enthusiastic HR professional who has built a solid foundation in Human Resources and is ready to broaden their experience across employee relations, award interpretation, HR compliance, and advisory.
Working closely with the HR Manager, you’ll receive mentoring and hands-on exposure to a wide range of HR activities while building the confidence to become a trusted advisor to managers and employees.

About VALS
The Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation and the state’s only specialist legal and support service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Since 1973, we’ve provided culturally safe legal representation, advocacy and support across criminal, family, civil and human rights law, youth justice and specialist litigation. Our services also include a 24/7 Custody Notification Service, family violence programs, transitional housing, community legal education and client support.

About the role
You’ll support managers and employees across a broad range of Human Resources activities while continuing to develop your advisory capability.
This role offers exposure to employee relations, workplace investigations, award interpretation, enterprise agreement application, HR administration, WHS compliance and organisational projects. You’ll work closely with the HR Manager, gaining valuable experience and coaching as you develop your career.
No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem solving and building strong working relationships.
