About the role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Bookkeeper to join our busy and growing medical general practice.
This role is ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping experience who enjoys working independently, has excellent attention to detail, and understands the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and efficiency within a healthcare environment.
The successful applicant will work closely with Practice Management and the leadership team to ensure the smooth and accurate management of the practice's financial administration.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing day-to-day bookkeeping and financial transactions
Accounts payable and accounts receivable
Processing supplier invoices and payments
Bank and credit card reconciliations
Reconciling daily takings and Medicare/private billing income
Managing provider payments and reconciliations
Assisting with payroll-related administration and reconciliations
Processing and reconciling payments from Medicare, DVA, WorkCover and other third-party organisations
Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
Assisting with BAS preparation and providing information to external accountants where required
Monitoring outstanding accounts and following up discrepancies
Preparing financial reports for Practice Management and Directors
Assisting with budgeting, expense tracking and financial reporting
Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring all financial information is handled securely
Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and administrative efficiencies
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounts Officer or similar financial administration role
Strong knowledge and experience using Xero
Experience with bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable
Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
Strong organisational and time-management skills
The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
A professional and confidential approach to sensitive information
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
Experience within a medical practice, healthcare environment or professional services environment will be highly regarded
