About the role
AWTA Ltd is seeking a practical and customer-focused Laboratory Systems Specialist to support the administration, configuration and ongoing improvement of our laboratory information systems, with a primary focus on LabWare LIMS for our Agrifood Technology and Product Testing divisions. This is an Information Technology role within the Information Services team, primarily based across our Kensington and Werribee locations, with support also provided to three additional laboratories across Australia.
Reporting to the Solution Architect – Laboratory Systems in the Information Services division, you will take operational ownership of day-to-day system administration and support. As part of the Information Services team, you will also work closely with other IT workstreams to ensure our laboratory systems remain reliable, well documented and aligned with business processes.
This role is well suited to an application support specialist, LIMS analyst, LabWare administrator or technically capable business systems analyst who enjoys understanding operational processes, solving problems and improving complex systems.
Key responsibilities
You will:
Administer and configure LabWare LIMS to support laboratory workflows and sample lifecycle requirements.
Develop and maintain LabWare LIMS Basic, LabStation and HTML components.
Maintain master data, workflows, templates, reports and configuration changes.
Apply SQL fundamentals to queries, troubleshooting and data-validation activities.
Manage user access and support system configuration, incidents and technical troubleshooting.
Provide first and second-level support to laboratory users, including Product Testing and AgriFood personnel.
Monitor system interfaces and integrations and perform routine system health checks.
Develop and maintain Crystal Reports, user guides, system documentation and standard operating procedures.
Participate in system testing, validation, deployment, software upgrades and broader System Development Life Cycle activities.
Liaise with laboratory operations and Information Services teams to understand business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Undertake out-of-hours work when required as part of assigned duties.
Essential skills and experience
At least 3 years experience administrating a Labware environment
LabWare LIMS Basic, LabStation, Crystal Reports and HTML development experience.
Working knowledge of SQL, including basic queries, troubleshooting and data validation.
Strong incident-management and logical problem-solving skills.
Experience documenting systems, processes, user instructions or standard operating procedures.
Experience contributing to or delivering projects, system improvements or small-to-medium business changes.
Ability to understand business processes and translate operational requirements into system changes.
Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.
Ability to work effectively with technical personnel, operational teams and laboratory users.
Require Australian drivers license to travel between offices.
Highly desirable
Laboratory operations or scientific systems experience.
LabWare configuration tools.
API and integration fundamentals.
XML, JSON or web services.
Development experience using technologies such as C# or Angular.
Microsoft Azure fundamentals.
Microsoft Power BI experience.
