The Carers Program Officer role provides an opportunity to implement meaningful, system wide change by strengthening how carers are recognised, supported and included across South Western Sydney Local Health District. The Carers Program Officer position works closely with the Carers Program Coordinator to implement key strategies such as NSW Health’s Carers Key Directions to ensure carers are valued as partners in care and that staff are equipped to support them effectively. This role is integral to building a more inclusive, person centred health system that acknowledges the contribution of carers and embeds carer inclusive practice into everyday service delivery.

The ideal candidate understands the important and valuable role carers play within the healthcare system and is committed to improving carer-inclusive practice across health services. They demonstrate strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with carers, consumers, staff and community stakeholders. They can assist with the planning, coordination and evaluation of projects, events and health promotion activities, while effectively managing competing priorities, working both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate demonstrates adaptability, initiative and sound judgement, and can effectively support and deliver initiatives that raise awareness of carers' needs and experiences. They contribute to activities and projects aligned with the Carers (Recognition) Act 2010 and NSW Health's Carers Key Directions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential, and experience in website content management, community engagement or event coordination would be highly regarded. The successful candidate will demonstrate empathy, a collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous learning.

Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline (health promotion/education, allied health, communication etc.) as determined by employer.Describe your experience engaging with carers, consumers, community organisations or other stakeholders to support the planning or delivery of an event, project or awareness initiative. What was your contribution, how did you engage stakeholders, and what was achieved? In your response, outline your role, how you managed competing priorities, and what outcomes were achieved.Describe a time when you delivered, facilitated or contributed to an education, training, awareness or information-sharing activity for staff, carers or community members. What was your role, how did you communicate the information, and what was the outcome? Please include your contribution to the development of presentation or training resources, how you adapted your communication to meet the needs of your audience, and how you evaluated the impact and effectiveness of the activity.Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
