About the role

One of our startup clients is looking for aspiring software developers to join their team through The Squad Institute's internship program.

This is an unpaid internship opportunity designed for students and recent graduates seeking practical industry experience alongside their studies or early career development.

You'll work with a real startup on real technology challenges as part of a small delivery squad, gaining exposure to software development, prototyping, solution design, testing and modern development practices.

The Squad Institute partners with local startups and growing businesses to connect emerging talent with practical learning opportunities. We provide the program structure and support, while participants gain exposure to real startup environments, teams and projects.

What you'll be doing

Depending on the startup and project, you may:

• Contribute to real software and technology projects

• Design and prototype potential solutions

• Develop and test software features

• Work with APIs, databases and modern development frameworks

• Use modern AI-assisted development tools

• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions

• Debug and troubleshoot software issues

• Collaborate with developers, founders and other interns

• Contribute to solution and system design

• Document and present your work and learnings

What we're looking for

Our client is looking for students or recent graduates studying:

• Computer Science

• Software Engineering

• Information Technology

• Artificial Intelligence or Data

• Related technology disciplines

Professional experience isn't required.

We're looking for people with foundational programming knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, good communication skills and a genuine desire to develop practical software engineering experience.

Internship arrangement

This is an unpaid internship.

The program is focused on learning, mentorship, practical exposure and professional development.

Participants should ensure the internship is appropriate for their individual circumstances, including any university or course requirements that may apply.
