Your new role 

The Place Leader – Urban Forest is an urban greening specialist who leads the Town’s Urban Forest Program and champions place-based outcomes for St James. The role provides expert urban greening advice, drives the Urban Forest implementation action plan, and coordinates cross-functional and community influenced initiatives to increase the Town of Victoria Park’s urban forest.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Urban Forest Program and the Town’s urban greening initiatives.
• Lead the Urban Forest Working Group.
• Provide expert advice on urban forest.
• Develop, review and implement urban forest strategies, projects, policies and design.
• Coordinate cross-functional programs, priorities and stakeholder engagement.
• Manage consultants and relationships with government agencies.
• Champion place-based outcomes for St James through collaboration and community engagement.
• Lead the implementation and review of Place Plans and cross-directorate initiatives.
• Represent the Town in engagement with Council, community, business and regional partners.

What you’ll need to succeed

• a strong commitment to stakeholder engagement, innovation and diversity
• demonstrated ability to manage projects
• previous demonstrated strategic town planning experience at a senior level
• relevant tertiary qualification/s required
