Associate Producer, Business Unit

The Role

The ABC is looking for an Associate Producer to plan, coordinate, write and oversee The Business on ABC TV and increase the program and its contents' reach on video on demand platforms.

 The Job

• Be across the key stories in business, economics and finance and work with the Business Editor, Video Supervising Producer and Presenter to devise and deliver a topical and engaging program for the audience on a daily basis.
• Develop interview ideas and guide reporters and the presenter on key stories and angles.
• Write scripts, manage program line-ups, oversee live and pre-recorded content, and take programs to air and on-demand platforms.
• Direct production teams to deliver accurate, timely, and engaging content.
• Ensure the quality and editorial compliance of The Business and its related content before it reaches the audience.
• Monitor departmental performance and maintain strong knowledge of news production.

 About You

You'll have: 

• Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Extensive broadcast journalism, production and business experience.
• A strong contact book and/or the ability to source new contacts and persuade them to be interviewed. 
• Strong editorial judgement, creativity and leadership.
• Advanced television news and current affairs production knowledge.
• Experience with digital platforms, particularly regarding video on demand.
• Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
• Ability to manage newsgathering, logistics and tight deadlines.
• Commitment to ABC policies, diversity and inclusion and passion for telling stories that reflect Australia’s diversity.
