Bookkeeper – Tasmanian Turf Club Launceston, Tasmania Permanent Part-Time

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Bookkeeper to join our small and collaborative team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration of the Club and for ensuring accurate and timely financial information is available to management and the Board. This is a broad role suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of the accounts function, working independently and being part of a small organisation where everyone contributes.

Key responsibilities

• Accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Credit control and debtor management
• Banking and cash management
• Bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Payroll processing
• Maintenance of accurate financial records
• Statutory and regulatory compliance
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
• Preparation of information for management and Board reporting
• Supporting the annual audit process

About you

• An experienced bookkeeper with strong practical accounting skills
• Accurate, organised and detail-oriented
• Comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day accounts function
• Experienced with accounting software, preferably Xero
• Confident with payroll, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable
• Able to work independently and meet deadlines
• Process-driven and interested in improving systems and procedures
• Professional and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Flexible and willing to assist other members of a small team when required
• A clear and professional communicator

The Tasmanian Turf Club is one of Tasmania's leading thoroughbred racing clubs and has been part of the Northern Tasmanian community for 200 years. Based at the Ladbrokes Racing Centre in Launceston, the Club conducts approximately 25 race meetings each year, including some of Tasmania's major racing events, and operates a diverse business encompassing racing, hospitality, events, sponsorship and venue activities.
