About us

The Dingo Conservancy is a small, not-for profit, dedicated to working collaboratively, to ensure that dingoes are protected, thriving and appreciated. We are a not for profit organisation with full DGR status. We do advocacy work, behind the scenes political lobbying. We are also assisting in the production and launch of pro-dingo short films as well as sourcing funding for and supporting dingo conservation related research.

Location: Online, anywhere in Australia. We are a national organisation and our board meetings are online, so anyone in Australia can apply.

Time commitment: Tuesday evenings, 730pm-9pm AEST, every six weeks. Our committee meetings are every six weeks, for 90 minutes. There is likely around 1-2 hours a month outside these meetings, at times less than that and at times more.

Who we are looking for

You will have a genuine interest in wildlife, conservation and the environment. You will have an interest in dingoes as apex predators, and ecosystem regulators and support our purpose and agree to abide by the rules of the association.

Our purpose is to:

To work collaboratively to ensure that:

• Dingoes are protected and thriving,
• Dingoes are recognised, respected and appreciated,
• First Nations’ cultural and spiritual connections to dingoes are respected, and
• Dingoes are able to take their place as apex predators and ecosystem regulators.

Required skills and attributes

• Bookkeeping basics: Know how to use simple accounting software and spreadsheets.
• Honesty and care: High level of personal integrity and attention to detail.
• Clear communication: Ability to explain money matters to other board members who may not have a finance background.

No prior board experience is required.

Police check and reference check will be required.

Key responsibilities

• Record Keeping: Track all income and expenses, issue receipts, pay approved bills, and manage bank accounts.
• Budgeting: Lead the creation of the annual budget and monitor cash flow throughout the year.
• Reporting: Present clear financial updates at every board meeting and prepare end-of-year financial statements for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) or ACNC.
• Compliance: Make sure the group follows its own constitution and local tax rules, including GST or Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status if applicable.

Time commitment

• Board meeting attendance-90 minutes, on a Tuesday evening, every six weeks with dates already set in advance
• Around 2 hours a month otherwise and perhaps double that initially and at reporting times 
• We have an accountancy firm that is assisting on a pro bono basis, so the treasurer would work with that firm
