About the role

McIlwain is excited to offer an opportunity for a Assistant Accountant to start their professional journey within our Payroll team. Becoming a vital member of the department, the successful candidate will have the chance to gain hands-on experience and valuable insight into finance, to kick start their career in accounting. 

Duties

• Assist in managing the weekly pay run review

• Conduct audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

• Provide assistance to the accounting team as required

• Escalate issues to Shared Services Manager in a timely manner.

• Respond to employee queries

• Assist in management of a shared inbox
  

Skills and experience 

• Recent Graduate of a Bachelor of Accounting or higher.

• 3+ years experience in a payroll position or similar

• Strong interpersonal skills matched with the ability to build meaningful relationships at all levels of the business.

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Intermediate Excel skills.
