The Director, Marketing is a senior leadership role responsible for leading Export Finance Australia’s marketing function and delivering the marketing strategy in support of organisational objectives. The role provides strategic advice on brand positioning, market priorities, customer engagement and reputational opportunities, ensuring marketing activity strengthens awareness, consideration and utilisation of Export Finance Australia’s products and services. It leads integrated, insight-led campaigns, digital channels, marketing automation and customer experience programs to support priority customer segments, referrers and growth outcomes. 

The role also leads and develops the marketing team, manages budgets and performance measures, and ensures all marketing activity aligns with government expectations, governance, risk and compliance requirements.

Strategic Marketing Leadership

• Shape and lead EFA’s marketing plan, translating organisational objectives, market priorities and customer insights into clear positioning, engagement priorities and measurable growth outcomes.
• Provide senior strategic advice to the General Manager, Brand, Media and Communications on brand, reputation, customer engagement, market opportunities and emerging risks.
• Partner with senior leaders across the organisation to ensure marketing priorities are integrated with business development, customer, policy and stakeholder engagement activity.
• Work with the communications team to ensure compelling, authoritative and accessible storytelling that demonstrates EFA’s impact, expertise and value.

Brand, Reputation and Market Engagement

• Strengthen EFA’s reputation as a trusted, commercially minded government financier that supports Australian exporters and infrastructure.
• Lead integrated, insight-led engagement strategies that build awareness, consideration and quality demand across customer segments, referrers, intermediaries and government stakeholders.
• Proactively manage brand and reputational risks in collaboration with the communications team.

Customer, Digital and Performance Insights

• Own and lead EFA’s NPS program, including its governance, measurement framework, survey approach and insights generation, ensuring customer feedback, sentiment and insights are systematically captured, analysed and translated into marketing priorities, customer experience improvements and organisational impact measures.
• Oversee the marketing ecosystem, including website, 1800 equiry line, CRM integration, automation, digital platforms and performance measurement, to enable data-led decision making and continuous optimisation.
• Define KPIs, performance measures and reporting that demonstrate the contribution of marketing to customer engagement, pipeline quality, brand strength and organisational priorities.

Governance, Risk and Public Sector Alignment

• Ensure marketing strategy, investment and activity align with government expectations, legislative and regulatory obligations, stakeholder priorities, and whole-of-government requirements.
• Support Ministerial, Parliamentary and international engagement activity by ensuring marketing priorities, messaging and materials are strategically aligned with government policy settings and wider whole-of-government initiatives.
• Maintain effective governance, approval pathways, risk controls and budget discipline across marketing activity, ensuring value for money and responsible stewardship of resources.
• Embed appropriate controls for brand, content, accessibility, privacy, data use, procurement and supplier management across marketing programs and channels.
• Provide clear reporting and advice on marketing performance, risks, investment decisions and emerging issues to support executive oversight and informed decision making.

People, Capability and Transformation Leadership

• Lead, develop and embed a high-performing marketing team with the strategic, digital, commercial and stakeholder capability required to deliver EFA’s priorities.
• Develop the operating rhythm, capability roadmap and external partner model needed to support a contemporary, insight-led marketing function.

• Tertiary qualifications in marketing, business, or a related discipline, ideally a Masters in these disciplines.
• 10+ years in marketing, and customer experience delivery functions within complex organisations.
• Proven track record in leading large-scale, multi-channel campaigns and customer experience programs.
• Experience managing budgets, agencies, and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated success in applying data and analytics to optimise delivery and customer outcomes.
• Proficiency with communication and marketing tools such as CRM platforms, social media management tools, content management systems (CMS), and analytics software.
• Knowledge of the specific industry, such as finance, export credit, or international trade, to ensure messaging aligns with sector-specific regulations and trends.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to link delivery outcomes to business objectives.
• Expertise in customer journey mapping and experience design.
