Technical Specialist - Food and Biologicals

Role: 

JASANZ is seeking a highly capable and motivated Technical Specialist – Food & Biologicals to join our Accreditation Delivery team.   

In this varied and influential role, you will apply your food and biological sector expertise to strengthen confidence in certification outcomes across Australia, New Zealand and international markets. 

The role has a strong focus on the Food & Biological sector, with opportunities to contribute to and support accreditation activities in other sectors. 

This role is supports the integrity of domestic and international regulatory and voluntary certification schemes.  

JASANZ provides significant training for the role. The successful applicant will also bring technical competence and experience in the sector, auditing experience, and a technically minded, enquiring approach. 

Role requirements:  

Lead and contribute to accreditation assessment activities for certification schemes and standards in the food and biological sectors, including: 

• Food Safety Management System (FSMS) - ISO22003 

• FSSC 22000 

• Global G.A.P 

• Safe Quality Food (SQF) 

• Australian Organics Scheme 

Interpret and apply relevant international standards, including ISO/IEC 17021-1, ISO/IEC 17065:2012 and ISO/IEC 17020. 

Provide expert technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders. 

Maintain current knowledge of food and biological certification schemes and standards, and assess their implications for accreditation. 

Thought leadership including participation in industry events and forums within the sector and throughout the broader assessment ecosystem.   

Candidate profile: 

• Demonstrated ability to conduct accreditation assessments or audits, supported by knowledge of the Australian, New Zealand and international regulatory environments relevant to the sector. 

• Domain expertise in Food and Biologicals 

• Demonstrated competence in auditing management systems, inspection activities or comparable assurance programmes. 

• Friendly, professional presence with the ability to navigate complexity and build trust 

• Strong organisational and planning skills, with clear and effective written and oral communication and reporting capability. 

•  This role will appeal to professional working within the food and/or biological sector, and those who are already in audit roles and where a diversity of work and balanced audit related work is sought. 

• Periodic travel within Australia and internationally is required. Applicants must have the flexibility and ability to travel as an essential part of the role.
