We are looking for an experienced Strategic Engagement Officer to join our team in a fixed term contract until September 2027.
Position Overview
The Strategic Engagement Officer provides high-level strategic, governance, communications, and executive support to the Office of the CEO. The role ensures the CEO and Mayor are well-informed and supported in achieving Council’s strategic objectives through effective stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and governance compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Unit Manager – Executive Services, the Strategic Engagement Officer will be responsible for:
Ensuring the Office of the CEO operates in compliance with legislative, regulatory, and organisational governance frameworks.
Facilitate effective engagement and communication with internal and external stakeholders to support Council’s strategic objectives.
Support the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies aligned with Council priorities.
Contribute to strategic community and organisational initiatives, including research, analysis, and coordination for policy development, advocacy plans, and priority programs aligned with Council objectives.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Tertiary qualification in public administration, business, governance, communications, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience in executive support, strategic project coordination, or governance.
Demonstrated experience providing high-level executive support to senior leaders, executives, or elected members.
High-level understanding of governance frameworks, compliance requirements, and statutory obligations.

The position is offered as a full time, fixed term [12 month] contract at General Officer Level 6 in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $111,664 to $119,249 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
