About the role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join the National Trust as our Education & Public Programs Manager. In this role, you will lead a talented team in the development, delivery and continuous improvement of our innovative learning experiences, tours and public offerings across both on-site and digital platforms. You will ensure high-quality, inclusive and inspiring experiences that connect students, educators and the wider community with Victoria's rich heritage.
Key responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic vision for the design, delivery and continuous improvement of innovative education and public programs, products and services that align with curriculum requirements and inspire engagement with our heritage places and stories.
Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence while managing multidisciplinary projects, programs and events.
Oversee the planning and delivery of complex projects, including budget development and management, financial oversight, risk management and reporting.
Build and strengthen partnerships with educational institutions, community organisations, government agencies and other stakeholders to expand program reach and impact.
Ensure the consistent quality, accessibility and visitor experience of education and public programs across all delivery channels.
Develop, deliver and evaluate a diverse portfolio of public programs, including events, tours, workshops and community engagement initiatives across National Trust properties.
Drive audience growth and participation by promoting education and public programs to schools, teachers, community groups and other target audiences.
Identify and pursue funding, sponsorship and partnership opportunities, contributing to the preparation, submission and acquittal of grant and funding applications.
About you
Proven experience in end-to-end program development and delivery.
Experience in developing and managing partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
A strong understanding of teaching practices and best practice pedagogy that meets curriculum standards and provides learning experiences for all ages.
Strong, natural leader with the ability to empower a team.
Financial management experience and acumen including the preparation of budgets, financial management and risk management reporting.
A strong customer service focus.
Experience in working in a fast paced, multi-tasking work environment.
A strong teamwork ethic including leading, mentoring and training different teams.
A hands-on approach to tasks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to prepare and deliver presentations to various audiences.
Excellent problem solving, decision making and negotiation skills.
Excellent organisational, time, task and priority management.
Computer literacy – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Passion to inspire the community to appreciate, conserve and celebrate its natural, cultural and Indigenous heritage.
Experience or understanding of a community–based, non-government organisation.
