• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the café, ensuring efficient service delivery, smooth workflow, and consistent achievement of operational, sales, and customer service objectives.
• Manage and coordinate café activities, including food and beverage service, customer experience, opening and closing procedures, and adherence to operational standards.
• Determine appropriate product mix, menu offerings, stock levels, and service standards based on customer demand, sales performance, and business requirements.
• Monitor daily sales performance, revenue targets, and operational costs, implementing strategies to improve profitability and overall business performance.
• Develop and implement purchasing procedures, manage supplier relationships, negotiate orders, and ensure the availability of quality ingredients and café supplies.
• Maintain accurate stock records, monitor inventory levels, conduct stock checks, minimise wastage, and ensure proper stock rotation and storage practices.
• Manage pricing strategies, promotional activities, and marketing initiatives to increase customer engagement, sales growth, and brand awareness.
• Promote café products and services, engage with customers, respond to feedback, and maintain high standards of customer satisfaction.
• Oversee cash handling procedures, daily financial reconciliations, transaction records, and operational reporting in accordance with company policies.
• Assist with budgeting, financial monitoring, and preparation of reports relating to sales, labour costs, stock control, and operational performance.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and manage café staff, including roster preparation, performance management, and ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet operational requirements.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to team members to maintain high standards of service, productivity, and workplace professionalism.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, workplace health and safety requirements, employment obligations, and relevant legislative standards.
• Monitor café presentation, cleanliness, maintenance, and overall customer environment to ensure a safe, hygienic, and welcoming venue.
• Coordinate catering services, special functions, and customer orders, ensuring timely preparation and delivery while maintaining quality standards.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and long-term business growth.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in retail management, café operations, hospitality management, or a similar customer-focused environment.
• Relevant academic qualification in Business, Management, Hospitality, or a related field is desirable.
• Strong understanding of daily retail and café operations, including customer service, stock control, sales management, and staff coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and supervise team members while maintaining high service standards.
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
• Experience with inventory management, supplier coordination, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support continuous improvement initiatives.
