About our client

Our client is a well-known and internationally diverse civil construction company that was established 45 years ago and branched into its specialist niche 18 years ago.

Our client deliver critical infrastructure projects on time and budget, using innovative technologies, products and techniques that reduce disruption and project timelines.  

Around three to four years ago, the organisation shifted its sole focus to their niche area: expedient pavement replacements and specialist products.

Over the course of 18 years, they have developed systems and methodologies that allow them to complete works in as little as two hours – far faster than the six hour or more typically required by overseas contractors with decades of experience. 

Our client has exclusive rights to the special cement and products in the southern hemisphere.

They have also won numerous awards over the years for innovation in the construction industry and are recognised as the pioneers in this space.

Role overview

In this key role, you will hit the ground running to help deliver projects for key clients who include local councils, government departments and public and privately owned companies.   

This challenging and hands-on role will see you immediately immersing yourself into the construction industry. You will have the opportunity to learn from highly skilled operators and technicians to help develop your expertise and knowledge. 

Duties 

· Conducting daily pre-checks on the Volumetric Mixers

· Delivering concrete to client sites and managing slump tolerance levels and concrete discharge

· Completing essential documentation associated with the collection and delivery of the concrete

· Communicating with allocators and customers

· Providing feedback to the batch plant and business regarding project and customer experience

· Yard duties, including yard maintenance and loading of stock deliveries

· Safely operating the vehicle and complying with safety policies and relevant legislation 

Skills & Experience 

· Must have a heavy rigid licence (Heavy Combination preferable)

· Must have a white card (general construction)

· Good communication skills and sound computer literacy

· Availability to work Sunday to Thursday to cover night shifts or Monday to Friday day shifts

· Strong understanding and awareness of the importance of safety

· Strong commitment to safety, health, and environmental responsibilities

· Potential interstate and remote travel (and potential international) will be required as part of this role (+ LAHA)

· Excavator and forklift experience along with knowledge of concrete batching is desirable.

Pay/Travel

You will be paid wages with penalties. You will be on a rotating roster of either day or night shifts.

Day shift: 6am-6pm

Night shift: 6pm-6am

As to LAHA- when traveling interstate/remote- 

• If flying - Company will cover transfers (taxi/parking at airport) + flights + accommodation + $80 per day (including day of travel to/from location) + your hourly rate.

• If driving - Company will provide vehicle and/or truck + accommodation + $80 per day (including day of travel to/from location) + your hourly rate.

Rates of Pay

The below is divided into Normal Time (NT) and Night Shift (NS).
Your shift will be determined by the majority of time worked during a shift.

Generally, night shift commences from 6pm.
Day shift will be defined as anything outside of 6pm – 6am which will be paid as Normal Time (NT).

Monday – Friday Day Shift

·       First 7.6 hours (NT)

·       First 2 hours Overtime (NT + 50%)

·       Excess of 2 hours Overtime (DT)

Monday – Friday Night Shift

·       First 7.6 hours (NT + 30%)

·       All Overtime hours (DT)

Saturday Day Shift

·       First 2 hours (NT + 50%)

·       Rest of the day (DT)

Saturday Night Shift

·       All hours (DT)

Sunday Day Shift

·       (DT)

Sunday Night Shift

·       (DT + 10%)
