Clinical Nurse – Palliative Care
Permanent Part-Time | 56 hours per fortnight

Fraser Coast Hospice is a purpose-built 6-bed facility located in Hervey Bay. We provide 24/7, multi-disciplinary inpatient palliative care to individuals aged 18 and over who are living with a terminal illness. With respect, compassion, and inclusivity, our goal is to provide high-quality, person-centered care in a peaceful and supportive environment.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our team on a permanent part-time basis (56 hours per fortnight). This is a shared role combining nursing administration duties with rostered clinical shifts, including on call, however the majority of hours will be based on the clinical roster.
Joining our Clinical Nurse team, you will play a vital role in supporting staff, coordinating care, and ensuring the highest standards of palliative care are delivered consistently.
Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff.
Lead quality improvement projects, clinical audits, and reviews in alignment with NSQHS standards.
Support our Palliative Care Outcomes Collaboration (PCOC) program.
Triage service referrals and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team.
Support nursing administration, including rostering, recruitment, and on-call scheduling.
Support clinical education and training programs.
Foster strong, respectful relationships with staff, volunteers, residents, families, and the wider community.
The successful candidate will ideally be:
Compassionate with a caring, engaging, and professional approach.
Energetic and capable of clinical leadership to deliver high-quality palliative care.
Committed to continuous quality improvement with a demonstrated understanding of relevant frameworks.
Skilled in both written and verbal communication, with exceptional customer service.
Able to collaborate effectively with volunteers and community members.
Essential:
Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in palliative care.
Highly Regarded:
Postgraduate qualification in Palliative Care or related field.
Previous nursing leadership experience.
Supportive and collaborative team culture.
