About the role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to transport and operate machinery for screw pile installation projects. The role involves driving a 12-tonne truck carrying a 10-tonne excavator to and from worksites, then operating the excavator fitted with an auger attachment to install screw piles. The successful candidate will prioritise safety, efficiency, and quality workmanship on every job.
Key Responsibilities
Safely load, secure, and unload a 10-tonne excavator onto/from a 12-tonne truck.
Drive the loaded 12-tonne truck to and from construction or civil worksites in accordance with all road rules and company policies.
Operate a 10-tonne excavator fitted with an auger attachment to accurately install screw piles to required depths, positions, and specifications.
Perform daily pre-start checks, basic maintenance, and cleaning of both the truck and excavator.
Ensure all equipment is transported and operated safely, following site-specific inductions, traffic management plans, and safety procedures.
Assist with site setup, materials handling, and general support duties as required.
Accurately complete daily paperwork, timesheets, and equipment usage records.
Report any mechanical issues, incidents, or safety concerns promptly to the supervisor.
Essential Requirements
Current heavy vehicle licence appropriate for operating a 12-tonne truck (e.g., Class MR/HR or equivalent depending on jurisdiction).
Proven experience operating mid-sized excavators (around 10 tonnes).
Experience using auger attachments, preferably for screw pile or foundation installation work.
Valid construction/site induction card (e.g., White Card, CSCS, or local equivalent).
Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices, including working around mobile plant and traffic.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven ground.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a small crew.
Good communication skills and a professional attitude on client sites.
Desirable
Previous experience specifically in screw piling, foundation installation, or civil construction.
Competency in other plant (e.g., telehandler, skid steer) or additional tickets
