The Opportunity
Step into a vital regulatory role protecting our road network. As a Casual Weight of Loads Inspector, you will ensure heavy vehicles operate within prescribed limits across participating member Councils in the North-West region. This position supports heavy vehicle compliance through random and targeted mass inspections on public roads.
You will intercept vehicles, prepare high-quality evidence and breach documentation, and monitor mass limits to prevent accelerated wear on road and bridge assets. Acting as a key interface between the transport industry and Council, you will blend enforcement with community education to ensure safe and sustainable road use.
Please note this is a casual position offering hours based on operational requirements, leave coverage, and rostered relief needs, with no guarantee of regular or ongoing hours.

About You
You are an analytical, ethical and confident communicator who can easily adapt your communication style for a diverse range of stakeholders. You are comfortable working effectively in a collaborative team environment with minimal supervision and possess strong competency in record-keeping and statistical analysis.
To succeed in this role, you will bring
A Higher School Certificate or equivalent, and/or previous experience in compliance, law enforcement, or local government.
Availability to work variable casual hours, including rostered relief periods, early starts, extended shifts of up to 10 hours, and occasional overnight stays away from home.
A current Class C Drivers Licence and a successful National Criminal History Check.
A General Construction Induction White Card.
A willingness to complete the Weight of Loads induction program and the Traffic Controller Certificate.
