Lead Carpenter

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership position. You'll work alongside your crew while organising daily tasks, maintaining quality standards and helping each project progress smoothly from start to finish. Timber Garden Cabins builds high-quality, modern timber homes and granny flats across Ipswich, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, with selected projects also undertaken in regional, remote, and island locations.

Key responsibilities

• Leading and working alongside a small on-site construction team

• Planning daily activities and allocating work to team members

• Reading and interpreting plans, engineering drawings and specifications

• Building timber homes and granny flats from start to finish

• Completing bearers, joists, framing, cladding, internal fit-offs and finishing carpentry

• Coordinating on-site activities with the project manager and other trades

• Monitoring workmanship and ensuring quality standards are maintained

• Identifying construction issues early and communicating them clearly

• Keeping projects moving according to the agreed schedule

• Mentoring carpenters and apprentices where required

• Keeping the team focused, productive, and on schedule to ensure project milestones and estimated completion timelines are met.

About you

• Trade qualification in carpentry

• At least 10 years of professional carpentry experience

• Ideally based in or around North Brisbane through to the Burpengary area

• Previous experience leading a crew or managing daily onsite work

• Strong residential building and finishing carpentry skills

• Ability to confidently read plans and solve on-site problems

• High attention to detail and pride in your workmanship

• Strong communication and leadership skills

• Reliable, trustworthy and able to work without constant supervision

• Current Australian driver's licence

• Current White Card
