About the role
City Wine Shop is offering an exciting career opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Sommelier to join our wine team.
Our wine and beverage program is at the heart of our hospitality group, supporting City Wine Shop, The European, Melbourne Supper Club, Siglo and our newest venue, Kafeneion.
We are looking for someone who genuinely loves wine, is approachable and personable, and is eager to develop their skills through hands-on experience and mentoring. This role is designed for someone looking to build a long-term career in wine, with the opportunity to progress into senior wine positions across our venues and broader business.
About the Position
This is a hands-on role that will initially involve working as a FOH at City Wine Shop, allowing you to develop a strong understanding of our service standards, food offering and customers.
From there, you will be trained across our wine program and given the opportunity to work within the wine team in a variety of capacities, including sommelier and wine retail.
This position would suit an experienced waiter who has mastered the fundamentals of service in a quality one-hat restaurant or wine bar, as well as a junior sommelier looking for their next opportunity and a clear pathway into a wine-focused career.

Holds WSET Level 3 or CMS certification (preferred but not essential)

Is available to work flexible hours across a five-day roster
What We Offer
The opportunity to work with an extensive wine collection representing the great wine regions of the world, alongside a dynamic by-the-glass program
A structured wine training program, including visits to local producers and sessions with international winemakers
