Assistant Functions and Event Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Functions & Events Manager to join our Food & Beverage Department on a full-time permanent basis, located at Caulfield Racecourse.

As our Assistant Function & Events Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the action, bringing functions, events and race day activities to life across our Caulfield, Mornington and Sandown Racecourses. From the first guest arrival to the final farewell, you’ll help create seamless, high-energy experiences while delivering exceptional service to our guests, clients and internal teams.

In The Saddle

• Coordinate all elements of race day and non-race day events, functions and activities
• Communicate with sales and event managers to ensure all client needs are met
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Appropriately and professionally dealing with clients and customers
• Ensure high service standards are communicated to all employees
• Provide comprehensive briefings prior to service to ensure all staff are aware of required duties, breaks and are familiar with immediate work area - including agency staff as required
• Ensure all staff follow and abide by liquor license laws of Victoria and actively practice RSA 
• Manage casual staff rostered on shift 
• Train, mentor and develop staff to achieve higher service standards 

Your Track Record

• Strong event management, functions and general staff coordination experience
• Exceptional planning skills with strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications
• Exceptional knowledge of food and beverage service
• Current RSA certificate
• Management experience in large scale function and event operations
• Extensive beverage knowledge including wine, beer and spirits
• Experience in getting the best out of a broad and diverse casual staff pool
• Basic knowledge of the racing industry and racing events
• Full working rights in Australia
• Full Drivers Licence and Access to your own vehicle
