Solutions Architect – Broker Technology & Integrations

About the role

The Solutions Architect is responsible for the architectural design, integration leadership and technical solution governance of Ebix Australia's Broker Solutions Mid-Market platforms — WinBEAT Classic and WinBEAT NEXT — and their interfaces to insurer, premium funder, document management, payment, accounting and partner ecosystems. The role works across the full solution lifecycle, from strategic intent and roadmap input through to design, governance and post-implementation review, ensuring that solutions are sound, consistent, scalable and aligned with Ebix's broader Strategy and Architecture direction across WinBEAT, Sunrise, Evolution and OneOffice. A central focus of this position is the design and governance of integration capabilities for mid-market brokers — including connectivity to insurers, the Sunrise Exchange trading platform, premium funders, document management partners, payment gateways and accounting platforms — with a strong emphasis on robust, reusable and standards-based integration patterns that support Ebix's future API and platform-services strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end solution architecture for WinBEAT Classic, WinBEAT NEXT and their integration ecosystem, including business workflow design, application architecture, data architecture, integration architecture and security considerations.
• Produce, review and govern solution design artefacts — including architecture decision records, integration designs, data models, API contracts and non-functional requirement specifications — to ensure design soundness, consistency and strategic alignment before implementation commences.
• Participate in and contribute to the Ebix Architecture and Strategy Review forum (Design Authority working group), presenting key design decisions and proposed changes for review and alignment with Ebix's overall platform strategy.
• Lead the design of integrations between WinBEAT and external parties — including insurers, Sunrise Exchange, premium funders, document management partners, payment gateways and accounting platforms — with a focus on robust, reusable and standards-based integration patterns.
• Coach development teams on application design patterns, performance and scalability practices, including concurrent and parallel processing, efficient data access patterns, database schema and query optimisation, and avoidance of common anti-patterns.
• Contribute to the broader Ebix Australia, NZ and SEA platform strategy and roadmap by providing architectural input on initiatives spanning WinBEAT, Sunrise, Evolution and OneOffice, and by identifying synergies and reuse opportunities across platforms.
• Support pre-sales, RFP responses, partner due diligence and client architecture conversations as required, providing the technical and architectural narrative for Broker Solutions Mid-Market.
• Collaborate with the General Manager – Broker Solutions Mid-Market and platform delivery teams to align architectural decisions with delivery priorities, customer commitments and operational realities.
• Maintain architecture and design documentation in the Ebix knowledge base, ensuring decisions are traceable, reviewable and accessible to current and future contributors.
• Stay current with insurance technology, integration standards, cloud and platform engineering trends, and apply that knowledge pragmatically to the Ebix context.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
• Significant experience in solution architecture, technical lead, principal engineer or similar senior technical roles in software product or enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience designing and integrating complex enterprise applications, preferably in insurance, financial services or comparable regulated industries.
• Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to architecture review boards, design authorities or equivalent governance forums.
• Experience designing and reviewing APIs, integration platforms and partner-facing interfaces.
• Experience working alongside delivery teams to coach design and engineering practice.
• Strong analytical, design and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate across business and technical domains.
• Ability to produce clear, well-structured architecture documentation — design papers, decision records, sequence and integration diagrams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present architectural concepts to executive, technical and customer audiences.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, particularly across senior, peer and delivery audiences.
