Assess, coordinate and deliver recovery-focused mental health care for older people across the Blacktown community.

Join Older People’s Mental Health (OPMH) at Blacktown Hospital, supporting older people experiencing mental illness, dementia and complex behavioural needs across the Blacktown local government area. What you'll be doing
As an OPMH Mental Health Clinician, you’ll provide holistic, evidence-based mental health care that helps older people achieve their recovery goals, maintain independence and live meaningful lives in the community.
Complete comprehensive mental health assessments and develop, implement and review collaborative, recovery-focused care plans.
Build therapeutic relationships with consumers, carers and families while coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams, GPs, hospitals and community providers.
Deliver evidence-based interventions including counselling, education, therapeutic support, medication management and care coordination.
Identify and respond to clinical risk and changes in presentation, including supporting consumers during acute phases of illness and escalating care when required.
Apply your professional expertise to promote healthy ageing, independence and quality of life while contributing to education, supervision, research and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Social Worker
Registration: Full registration with AHPRA as Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist or Social Worker eligible for membership of AASW
Selection Criteria:
Significant clinical experience in the field of aged care and/or mental health.
Experience and ability to conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments, and to develop and implement care plans and interventions in collaboration with consumers and carers.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively develop a therapeutic relationship with consumers and carers from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
An understanding of recovery models in mental health and the ability to implement these within clinical practice.
An understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and the Guardianship Act (1987).
Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.
