In Western Australia, Keolis operates a fleet of more than 400 Transperth and school buses on behalf of the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia across the Perth metropolitan and regional areas.
Our teams play an important role in keeping Western Australians moving, delivering more than 1.2 million passenger journeys each year.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for experienced and motivated Heavy Vehicle Mechanics to join our team in the Morley Contract Area.
About the Role:
We are seeking motivated candidates, preferably with previous bus or heavy vehicle experience, to support our expanding operations and service and maintain our fleet of diesel-powered Volvo and CNG-powered Mercedes buses.
With the industry moving towards cleaner and more sustainable transport, this is an exciting time to join our team as we prepare for the upcoming transition to zero-emission battery electric buses.
As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability and presentation of our bus fleet. Your duties will include scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, inspections, fault diagnosis and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on buses.
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and defects.
Perform inspections, repairs and maintenance to a high standard.
Carry out repairs to braking, suspension, steering, driveline and associated systems.
Diagnose faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Identify and report safety or mechanical defects.
Ensure all work complies with company procedures, safety standards and relevant legislation.
Work effectively as part of a professional maintenance team.
Support the safe and reliable operation of the Transperth and school bus fleet.
Develop your knowledge and skills as the fleet transitions towards battery electric technology.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
Previous experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
Bus, coach, truck or other heavy commercial vehicle experience is highly desirable.
Experience with diesel engines and heavy vehicle mechanical systems.
Experience with Volvo and/or Mercedes-Benz vehicles is advantageous.
CNG experience is highly regarded but not essential.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
A commitment to workplace health and safety.
Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
A reliable, professional and positive attitude.
A current Australian driver's license.
HR or HC license is highly desirable.

As this is a safety-critical role within the public transport industry, all successful applicants will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
The pre-employment process may also include drug and alcohol screening, police checks, employment history and qualification verification, where applicable.
Applicants must be physically capable of safely performing the duties associated with a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic position and meet all relevant employment and safety requirements.
