About the role
We are seeking a dedicated full-time (Monday to Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm) Childcare Chef to join our early learning service in Austral.
In this role, you will prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals for children each day, following a seasonal rotating menu. You will be responsible for daily food preparation, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, and ensuring meals are prepared safely and cater to individual dietary, allergy and cultural requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in an early learning, childcare or similar environment, hold a current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, and have a genuine passion for preparing healthy and enjoyable meals for children.
Prepare morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea based on a rotating menu
Cater to children's individual dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
Ensure food is safely stored, handled and prepared
Order food and kitchen supplies within the allocated budget
Check and manage food deliveries
Work with the Centre Manager to plan and prepare nutritious menus
Maintain accurate records relating to food safety and dietary requirements
Communicate positively and professionally with children, families and team members
Contribute to a welcoming and positive environment within the service
Relevant qualification in commercial cookery, hospitality, nutrition or a related field
Previous experience as a Cook/Chef, preferably in childcare, aged care, healthcare or a similar setting
Experience with menu planning and managing dietary requirements and allergies
Current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one
Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling
Reliable, organised and able to work independently
Genuine interest in preparing nutritious meals for young children
