About the role
Casual Event Crew – Outdoor Laser Tag
Location: Hawthorn, Melbourne, VIC
Pay: Award rates + travel + bonuses
Hours: 4–10 hrs/week (mostly weekends)
NOTE! With the hours you work, it is demand-driven and varies with the season – expect more consistent work through spring and summer as events ramp up, with quieter lulls over winter. Some weeks you might have no events, others a couple, and occasionally up to five. Average event is 3.5 - 5.5 hours total (inc travel, set up/pack down) You need to be comfortable with that variability.
Laser Raiders is Melbourne's mobile outdoor laser tag experience – we bring the battlefield to parks, schools, and community spaces across the city.
We're a fast-growing, fast-paced start-up shaking up the entertainment and events space. Every event is different, 90% of the events outdoors, and every shift brings energy, laughs, and plenty of action.
We’re looking for high-calibre, switched-on crew who want a fun, flexible job that still develops real leadership, communication and customer-facing experience. Many of our best crew members are uni students across a wide range of degrees - what you study doesn’t matter as much as your professionalism, confidence and attitude.
We're looking for confident, high-energy crew members to help run kids' birthday parties, school incursions, fetes and youth events. You'll set up the gear, brief players, host games, and make sure every group has an unforgettable experience.
Applicants must be 18+ in Victoria due to the requirement to drive between event locations and transport equipment.
A valid driver’s licence and access to a car capable of transporting gear is non-negotiable.
You'll start by assisting senior crew, then quickly move toward running events independently once trained. Most events run for 1–3 hours of playtime, plus setup/pack down and travel.
Because this is a mobile role involving transporting equipment, applicants who live closer to Hawthorn (or who have convenient access to surrounding suburbs) will find the role more suitable and practical.
(This is not a requirement - it simply helps with travel efficiency and shift availability.)
It’s the perfect role for someone who loves working with kids, being outdoors, and taking the lead in a fun, fast-paced environment.
What You'll Be DoingSetting up and packing down laser tag gear (blasters, bunkers, routers, etc.)
Hosting and refereeing laser tag games for children and community groups
Keeping energy levels high while maintaining safety and control
Transporting and maintaining equipment
Running events solo once trained and confident
Engaging professionally with parents, families and school staff
Demonstrating strong judgment at all times and upholding child-safe standards

Happy to run events independently (after you have been trained up)

Experience with kids (coaching, tutoring, babysitting, sport, camps, cadets, youth groups, etc.) is a plus
WWCC required (or willingness to obtain one)
We’re open to applicants from any field of study - the key is your attitude, professionalism, and your ability to lead groups with confidence and enthusiasm.

Gain valuable leadership experience working directly with kids and families
