Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist within our Surface Ships team in Melbourne, VIC. In this role, you will be responsible to perform a range of quality assurance activities, ensuring quality practices are being effectively deployed across the business area.
Core Duties
Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives, providing expert guidance and independent oversight to ensure quality standards meet internal and external customer expectationsEducates and coaches project, program, and business personnel on quality management principles to promote accountability, ownership, and continuous improvementConduct internal audits, supplier audits, and provide support with corrective and preventative actions and conduct quality investigations as requiredProvide coaching, advice and support to stakeholders on quality assurance related matters and processesUndertake quality process system activities including quality assurance reviews and validate data to ensure it meets program requirementsChampion the quality assurance activities, ensuring quality standards/outcomes are achieved and in line with quality standards, program and company requirementsCollaborate effectively and build good relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a positive cultureLead, support and implement continuous improvement and quality engineering/assurance improvement activities
About You
Demonstrated quality assurance experience and individuals with experience in maritime, engineering or in a relevant field, will also be highly regardedAn understanding of Quality, Safety, Environmental & Asset Management Standards (9001, 45001, 14001, 55001) and practicesProficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, the ability to develop reports and documentsGood communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build good relationships with a range of stakeholdersFormal quality qualificationor diploma in Quality Management/Diploma in Auditing is preferredLead Auditor qualification or a relevant technical qualification is essential
The Designer Support Contract – West (DSC-West)
The Designer Support Contract – West (DSC-West) covers the delivery of Engineering Design Support services for various naval assets, with a primary focus on the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Anzac Class frigates and associated facilities. Through this contract, BAE Systems Australia provides critical engineering and design expertise and technical support to assist the sustainment and ongoing operation of these critical naval assets, contributing to the strength and effectiveness of Australia’s maritime sector.
