The role in one paragraph

Integral is a family-owned Australian and New Zealand food ingredients business. We help food, beverage and pet food manufacturers simplify ingredient sourcing and reduce supply risk — which means our own supply chain has to be the most reliable thing about us. You will own it end to end: around 150 SKUs across starches and flours, proteins, fibres, colours, fruits and vegetables and stabilisers, from forecast through to purchase order, supplier follow-up and landed stock. You will also lead the customer service side, so the promise we make to a customer and our ability to keep it sit with the same person.

You report to the General Manager and you lead a team. There is no layer between you and the decisions, which is the appeal, and it is also the bar.

What you'll own

Forecasting and inventory optimisation

•   Own the forecast — sales input in, parameters tuned by you in Netstock, and output you personally stand behind

•   Know when the system is wrong. The tool calculates; you decide, and you can explain why

•   Set and defend stock targets, reorder points and safety stock across around 150 SKUs

•   Balance service level against holding cost, and be able to show the working

•   Track and report stock health: ageing, slow movers, shorts, obsolescence and stock cover

Purchasing and order management

•   Place and track purchase orders with international and local suppliers

•   Manage against supplier MOQs, production runs, container fill and shipping schedules

•   Own the purchase order book end to end — nothing falls between confirmation and arrival

Supplier coordination and lead times

•   Chase production timelines before they slip, not after

•   Manage international lead times as a live number, not a static assumption

•   Run supplier performance conversations on delivery in full and on time, quality and documentation

Freight forwarding and imports

•   Own the relationship with our freight forwarder, who handles our customs clearance — you will not be doing the clearance work yourself, but you will be the person making sure it runs

•   Give them what they need early and accurately: documentation, permits, timings and changes, so problems get solved at origin rather than at the wharf

•   Track vessels and estimated arrival dates, and feed the real dates back into the plan as they move

•   Know enough about the process to check the work and ask the right questions — duty and tariff treatment, biosecurity requirements, and what is driving a delay

•   Watch landed cost: freight rates, duty, exchange rate movement, and the demurrage and storage charges that quietly erode margin

Risk mitigation

•   Spot stock-outs weeks out, not days out, and have the fix already moving

•   Build and maintain local backup supply so a delayed vessel isn't a lost customer

•   Keep continuity plans real for the SKUs that actually matter

Data and new product setup

•   Own the setup of new SKUs — codes, pricing, system data and planning parameters

•   Keep master data clean enough that the forecast can be trusted

Stakeholder management

•   Be the single link between suppliers, our freight forwarder, sales and finance

•   Give sales a straight answer on availability, and finance a straight answer on stock and landed cost

Customer service

•   Own the customer service function alongside supply chain, so availability, order fulfilment and what we promise customers sit under one person

•   Make sure customers hear about a problem from us before they find it themselves

•   Close the loop between what sales commits to and what supply can deliver

Leading the team

•   Lead, develop and set the priorities for your team across supply chain and customer service

•   Set clear standards for accuracy, follow-up and communication, and hold people to them fairly

•   Get the best from a team that spans onshore and offshore, and make remote members feel part of it

What we need from you

Non-negotiables

•   Significant experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting or supply chain management — as the person accountable for the outcome, not one contributor among many

•   Food importing experience: container shipping, international lead times, shelf life and stock rotation, and ambient warehousing

•   A strong grasp of inventory optimisation logic — safety stock, reorder points, forecast error, and the trade-off between service level and holding cost. We run Netstock over Cin7; if you have used comparable tools you will pick ours up quickly. What we need is someone who can tell when the system's recommendation is wrong and act on it

•   Strong analytical and lateral thinking — you can trace a bottleneck to its cause and weigh holding cost against the risk of a gap

•   Exceptional communication and professionalism with external suppliers and forwarders, and across internal teams

•   Proven people leadership — you have set priorities for a team, managed performance, and lifted someone who was struggling

•   Meticulous attention to detail — ordering accuracy is the whole job

•   Advanced Excel

Highly regarded

•   Import compliance exposure — DAFF and biosecurity requirements, FSANZ labelling, HACCP, the imported food inspection scheme

•   Working knowledge of Incoterms, the customs clearance process and landed cost build-up including exchange rate impact — enough to manage a broker well and check their work, rather than to do it yourself

•   Experience managing or directing offshore support staff

•   New Zealand or broader trans-Tasman supply exposure

•   Hands-on experience with Cin7, Netstock, or comparable inventory and demand planning platforms (Slimstock, EazyStock, NetSuite Demand Planning, SAP IBP or similar) — a head start on our systems, not a requirement

This role probably isn't for you if you want to specialise in one part of supply chain, or you would rather not be accountable for the customer-facing side as well as the planning. This is a broad role, and it is hands-on as well as strategic.

•   $165,000 – $175,000 base + superannuation — benchmarked in the upper range for Melbourne, reflecting the breadth of the role and the team that comes with it

•   Performance bonus of up to 10% of base — paid against clear, measurable supply chain and service KPIs, not a discretionary pool. On-target earnings of $181,500 – $192,500 plus super.

Learn the range, the suppliers and the seasonality. Meet the team and understand how the work flows today. Audit current planning parameters and stock cover.

Retune the planning settings, and get on top of the purchase order book and live lead times.

Your forecast, your reorder points, your supplier follow-up rhythm, and a clear view of where our supply risk sits.
