Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families through culturally safe maternity and neonatal care that improves lifelong outcomes.About the role
This is an identified position. Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
The Social Worker Senior – Maternity and Neonatology (Identified) provides high-level social work services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their families accessing Women's and Newborn Services within the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Metro North Health. Working within culturally safe models of care, including the Ngarrama Maternity Group Practice and Women's Business Shared Pathway, the role supports improved health, wellbeing, cultural outcomes and engagement with healthcare services.
The successful candidate will work in partnership with women, families and multidisciplinary teams to deliver culturally responsive psychosocial support across hospital and community settings. The role requires a high level of autonomy in managing complex clinical presentations, while also providing leadership, supervision, advocacy and support to enhance culturally safe service delivery and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity outcomes.
