About the role
Mazenod Football Club | Melbourne’s South-East
Mazenod FC is looking for committed and enthusiastic male and female soccer coaches to join our growing MiniRoos and Juniors program.
Over the past five years, our club has experienced significant growth, with 27 teams now competing across our MiniRoos and Junior programs. We are committed to creating a professional, positive and development-focused environment where young players can enjoy the game, develop their skills and reach their potential.
Our long-term vision is ambitious: to become recognised as one of Melbourne’s leading clubs for MiniRoos and Juniors development within the next ten years.
All coaches at Mazenod FC are remunerated and receive ongoing support and professional development throughout the season.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking coaches who are:
Reliable, professional and well organised
Committed to continuous learning and development
Able to work effectively within a coaching team
Interested in developing both their coaching knowledge and leadership skills
Comfortable communicating with players, parents and other coaching staff
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work alongside highly qualified coaching staff within a supportive and professional environment.
Coaching & Development Opportunities
Mazenod FC is committed to developing our coaches as well as our players.
Depending on experience, commitment and performance, opportunities may include:
Football Victoria coaching licence courses supported by Mazenod FC
Ongoing coaching education and mentoring
Working alongside experienced and highly qualified coaches
Opportunities to take on management and leadership responsibilities, including:
Tournament organisation
Coaches’ management
Training schedule coordination
Session planning and program organisation
Player development activities
For coaches who demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organisation and coaching ability, further opportunities may include:
Additional paid activities through our extra programs, including school holiday camps and personal training
Tournament attendance and coaching opportunities across Australia, including Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra
Increased coaching and leadership responsibilities within the club
Potential international coaching and employment opportunities in the long term
Key Coaching Responsibilities
Coaches will be expected to:
Implement high-quality soccer training sessions in line with the club’s methodology and player-development philosophy
Develop training programs that address both team and individual player objectives
Prepare players for tournaments and competitions
Complete player evaluations and development benchmarks to monitor and measure progress
Follow the club’s coaching methodology, strategies and game model
Teach players tactical concepts, team structures and game strategies based on Mazenod FC principles
Act as a mentor and educator while developing positive relationships with players
Understand individual players’ personalities, strengths and areas for development
Lead training sessions that improve players’ technical, tactical, physical and psychological development
Make appropriate decisions and substitutions during matches
Maintain open and professional communication with players and parents/guardians
Work collaboratively with other coaches and club staff
Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive and enjoyable environment for all players
Requirements
Coaches will be required to:
Hold, or be willing to work towards, at least a Football Victoria Foundation of Football coaching qualification
Coaches holding an AFC or UEFA C or B Licence will be highly regarded and may be considered for opportunities to coach higher-skilled and more advanced teams within the Mazenod FC program
Hold, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check if 18 years or older
Have the legal right to work in Australia, including being an Australian citizen, permanent resident or holding all applicable visas and work approvals
Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and a genuine commitment to youth player development
Previous coaching experience and coaching qualifications are highly regarded, but we are also interested in motivated coaches who are eager to learn and develop.
