About Us

Finesse Engineering Services is a locally owned and operated engineering company servicing the mining, construction, and heavy industry sectors throughout Mackay and the Bowen Basin.

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead our workshop team and drive safety, quality, and productivity across our operations.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of our workshop, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact. You'll work closely with management to improve workshop performance, develop your team, and help shape the future of a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily workshop operations.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of boilermakers, apprentices, and trade assistants.

• Plan and manage workflow to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

• Allocate labour and resources to maximise productivity and efficiency.

• Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and company procedures.

• Conduct quality inspections throughout fabrication and repair activities.

• Identify and resolve technical and production issues.

• Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS legislation and company policies.

• Liaise with management regarding project progress, resource requirements, and potential delays.

• Monitor team performance while providing coaching, mentoring, and ongoing development.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Workshop Supervisor, Leading Hand, or in a similar leadership role.

• Trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication, Boilermaking, Mechanical Fitting, or a related discipline.

• Extensive experience in heavy fabrication and welding within the mining or heavy engineering industry.

• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

• Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.

• Excellent organisational and planning abilities.

• A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement.

• Current Forklift Licence.

• Current Australian Driver's Licence.

• A minimum of five years' experience in a similar trade or supervisory role.
