About the role
Senior Lecturer in Computational Immunology (Teaching & Research)
The School of Biomedical Sciences
As one of the largest teaching and research-intensive schools at UNSW, the School of Biomedical Sciences is uniquely placed to not only inspire the next generation of science and medical graduates but also lead in the discovery and development of tomorrow’s diagnostics, treatments and cures. It plays a key role in arming future medical practitioners, biomedical scientists and a broader community of health professionals, each of whom bring specialised knowledge and a diverse skill set to the frontiers of medical science.
The school holds strong cross-faculty connections with biotechnology, chemistry, maths, physics and engineering; along with academic staff and key partners whose work is based in the clinical or biotech space, this creates a naturally synergistic and innovative environment.
Details of the role
The Senior Lecturer (Level C) will conduct high quality research focussed on application of computer sciences to immunology (e.g. in protein folding, antigen discovery, antibody design, structure guided vaccinology or systems immunology data analysis) and make a significant contribution to educational excellence in the School of Biomedical Sciences and Faculty of Medicine and Health.
This role offers the opportunity to shape and advance immunology research and education within a leading academic environment. You will drive an independent, high-impact research program, build national research recognition, and contribute meaningfully to the supervision and development of higher degree research students.
Alongside research leadership, you will play a key role in delivering inspiring, evidence-based teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with a focus on immunology in the context of infection and disease. Working collaboratively across disciplines, you will help strengthen research networks, attract competitive funding, and contribute to innovative curriculum design that enhances student learning, employability, and academic excellence.
The role of Senior Lecturer reports to Head of Department (nominally Pathology) and has no direct reports.
