About the role
Adelaide Foot and Ankle | Prospect & Semaphore
Great with people? Quick with technology? Looking for something more than just a reception job?
There’s a lot happening at Adelaide Foot and Ankle.
With our team expanding, more podiatry appointments available across our clinics and our busy time of year approaching, we’re looking for another great person to join our team.
This time, we’re looking for the right person rather than the perfect résumé.
You may already have some experience in reception, administration, retail, hospitality or customer service. Or you may be looking for an opportunity to get into healthcare and learn something completely new.
Either way, if you’re bright, organised, confident with technology and someone who picks things up quickly, we’d like to hear from you.
Healthcare experience would be helpful, but it isn’t essential. We can teach you the role.
A Little About Us
Adelaide Foot and Ankle is a busy, well-established podiatry practice with clinics at Prospect and Semaphore.
Led by Dr Rob Hermann (podiatric surgeon), we provide everything from general podiatry through to more complex treatments and foot and ankle surgery.
We’re a small team, which means everyone matters.
We work hard, we support each other and we like things to run well. When the clinic gets busy, everyone pitches in. We also have a laugh along the way and genuinely want our team to enjoy coming to work.
So, What Does the Job Actually Involve?
This is where the role gets interesting.
It’s a combination of reception, administration and hands-on clinical support, so you won’t spend your whole day sitting behind a desk.
Once trained, you’ll be involved in things like:
· Welcoming patients and managing a busy reception
· Answering calls, emails and patient enquiries
· Booking appointments and managing electronic diaries
· Processing payments and private health claims accurately
· Preparing treatment and procedure rooms
· Cleaning and sterilising instruments
· Supporting our podiatrists and helping keep their day running smoothly
· Learning our systems and procedures
· Keeping an eye on what needs doing and getting in there to help
Some days will be busy. Some days you’ll have five things happening at once. That’s the nature of healthcare — and it’s also what makes the role interesting.
Who Are We Looking For?
You don’t need to tick a long list of qualifications.
We’d much rather meet someone who is:
· Tech savvy and confident learning new systems
· Friendly and comfortable talking to people of all ages
· Quick to learn and able to follow processes accurately
· Organised and good at keeping track of what needs to happen next
· Calm when things get busy
· Reliable — if you say you’ll do something, you do it
· Happy to ask questions while you’re learning
· Able to use initiative once you know the ropes
· Someone who notices what needs doing rather than walking past it
· A genuine team player
You’ll also need a current driver’s licence and reliable transport, as the role works across both our Prospect and Semaphore clinics.
What If You Haven’t Worked in Healthcare Before?
That’s okay.
Previous medical, dental or allied health experience is certainly an advantage, but it’s not a requirement.
If you’ve worked in a busy café, managed customers in retail, handled a reception desk, worked in administration or had another role where you’ve learnt to juggle people, technology and competing priorities, you may already have many of the skills we’re looking for.
We’re prepared to train the right person.
In return, we need someone who wants to learn, takes feedback on board and is prepared to become really good at their role.
Why Work With Us?
We think we offer something a little different.
You’ll have:
· Full training in our systems and clinical processes
· A varied role where no two days are exactly the same
· A supportive team around you while you learn
· Set hours and a healthy work-life balance
· Exposure to an interesting side of healthcare you may not have experienced before
· The opportunity to develop your skills and take on more responsibility over time
· A workplace where good ideas and initiative are genuinely appreciated
Most importantly, we want someone who is looking for more than their next job.
We’d love to find someone who can see themselves becoming an important part of AFA as we continue to grow.
Think This Sounds Like You?
Send us your résumé along with a short introduction telling us a little about yourself and why this role caught your attention.
Don’t worry if your résumé doesn’t say “healthcare”.
If you’re good with people, good with technology and genuinely keen to learn, we’d still like to hear from you.
