About the Opportunity/Position

The Senior Electrical Estimator - Substations/BESS develops accurate, timely, and compliant cost estimates and proposals for electrical infrastructure projects. The role's primary focus is on high-voltage substations (AIS/GIS) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

As part of a national transmission and energy team, the estimator supports tenders across multiple regions, bringing specialist expertise in substations and energy storage systems, including grid connections and balance-of-plant scope.

What are the key accountabilities for the position?Develop cost estimates for HV substations (AIS/GIS) and BESS from first principles (materials, plant, labour, subcontractor pricing)Coordinate procurement and tendering strategies, including subcontractor pricing and bid meetingsConduct risk assessments and manage provisional sums/contingency allowancesPrepare estimate basis documents, WBS, and bridging documents for cost trackingPresent estimates and cost reports to senior management and clientsApply CCS/Candy, Expert Estimation, Excel, and Power BI for estimating and reportingQualification and CompetenciesDegree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or a Trade Electrical qualification with on-site experience6+ years' experience in engineering, project delivery, or related technical roles within infrastructure, utilities, or constructionIncludes a minimum of 4+ years' estimating experience on major infrastructure projects, preferably transmission lines, high-voltage (HV) systems, substations, or electrical infrastructureProficient in CCS/Candy, Expert Estimation, Excel, and Power BIFirst Principles estimating skills, ability to interpret drawings
Desired Skills and Experience

Electrical Engineer/Trade qualified, 6+ yrs infrastructure exp, 4+ yrs estimating HV/substations. Skilled in CCS/Candy, Excel, Power BI.
