Modular Home Construction Labourer / Carpenter Assistant

Location: Mickleham, VIC & sites across Melbourne
Employment: Full-Time
Pay: $28 per hour + super

We are a modular home construction business looking for a reliable and hardworking Construction Labourer / Carpenter Assistant to join our team.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving the construction and erection of modular homes, preparation of building components and packing customer orders.

Most work will be based at our Mickleham facility, with some on-site construction work at locations throughout Melbourne.

You do not need to be a qualified carpenter, but you must be comfortable working with your hands and have experience using basic hand tools and power tools.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Constructing and erecting modular homes using EPS panel systems

• Assisting with the assembly of modular building structures

• Measuring, cutting and fitting building materials

• Using hand tools and power tools safely and confidently

• Assisting with wall, roof and structural assembly

• Preparing materials and components for upcoming builds

• Picking and preparing steel framing components according to customer orders

• Checking that the correct steel frames and components are included in each order

• Loading and stacking steel frames onto pallets

• Securely wrapping and preparing pallets for transport or customer collection

• Loading, unloading and moving building materials

• Assisting with general warehouse and yard duties when required

• Working both at our Mickleham facility and on construction sites throughout Melbourne

• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work environment

What We’re Looking For

The ideal applicant will:

• Have some construction, carpentry, manufacturing or labouring experience

• Have good basic knowledge of hand tools

• Be confident using power tools

• Be able to measure accurately and follow instructions

• Be able to follow customer orders and correctly pick and pack components

• Have good attention to detail

• Be physically fit and comfortable lifting and handling building materials

• Be reliable, punctual and hardworking

• Be willing to learn our modular construction system

• Work well independently and as part of a team

• Have a valid White Card

• Have a driver’s licence and reliable transport

Previous experience with modular construction, framing, carpentry, steel framing, manufacturing, warehousing or panel systems would be an advantage but is not essential.

Training in our modular building methods and systems will be provided.
