Carpenter / Trades Assistant

About the role

Modify Modular is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Carpenter / Trades Assistant to join our growing team in Murray Bridge, SA. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to work on diverse building and construction projects in a supportive team environment. You will be based in Murray Bridge and will work on-site across various residential and commercial projects throughout the region. This role is integral to the success of our building operations and offers the chance to develop your carpentry skills whilst contributing to quality construction outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting experienced carpenters in the construction and installation of building frameworks, walls, floors, roofs and other structural elements

• Measuring, marking, cutting and shaping timber and other building materials to specifications

• Installing windows, doors, flooring, wall panelling and other carpentry fixtures in accordance with project plans and building standards

• Preparing work sites, ensuring tools and materials are organised and safely stored

• Maintaining and cleaning tools, equipment and work areas to ensure a safe and productive working environment

• Following all health and safety regulations and procedures on-site, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment

• Assisting with general trades tasks as required, including site preparation, material handling and basic finishing work

• Communicating effectively with site supervisors and other team members to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met

• Contributing to the professional and safety-conscious culture of the construction site

What we're looking for

• A genuine interest in carpentry and the building trades, with a willingness to learn and develop your skills

• Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual labour in varying weather conditions

• A strong commitment to health and safety practices on construction sites

• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to take direction and work collaboratively

• Reliability and punctuality, with a positive attitude towards work

• Basic numeracy and literacy skills

• Previous carpentry or building trades experience is desirable, though training will be provided for suitable candidates

• A current driver's licence is preferred

• Relevant qualifications or certifications in building trades, carpentry or construction are advantageous
