Our phone rings all day. Plumbers chasing a fitting, farmers checking stock, builders wanting a quote, someone following up an online order.

Right now every one of those calls lands on our sales and technical team, including the simple ones they shouldn't be taking. That's the job: own the front line so they can get on with theirs.

We're looking for someone who has worked behind a trade counter or in internal sales at a plumbing or irrigation supplier - think Reece, Tradelink, Plumbing Plus, Samios, Vinidex distributors or similar - to own the front line of our customer service and sales admin.

You'll be the first voice customers hear: sizes, stock, pricing, order status, "have you got this in brass?" You'll sort out most of it yourself, and you'll know when an enquiry belongs with our plumbing expert.

To be clear: we are not looking for a qualified plumber, and you won't be giving technical design advice. We have people for that. We need someone confident on the phone, sharp on the admin, and familiar enough with the products to talk to a tradie without needing everything explained twice.

• Answer and triage inbound calls and emails - handle the simple stuff yourself, route the technical and high-value enquiries fast.

• Build quotes and enter orders accurately, and chase open quotes so nothing goes cold.

• Process online orders - dispatch queries, tracking, freight follow-up, keeping customers updated.

• Trade account admin - new account set-ups, pricing, clean customer records.

• Liaise with the warehouse and suppliers - stock checks, backorders, and straight answers on lead times.

• Experience in a plumbing, irrigation or building supplies environment - trade counter, internal sales, branch admin or customer service. This is the big one.

• Working knowledge of plumbing and irrigation products - enough to understand what a customer is asking for and speak their language. You don't need to be qualified.

• Genuinely good on the phone - warm, clear, efficient, and comfortable with tradies who want an answer and want it now.

• Strong admin skills - accurate order entry, tidy records, good follow-up. Comfortable with an ERP or order system and Excel.

• Good judgement on when to escalate. Knowing what you don't know is a strength in this role, not a weakness.

Experience with CIN7, WooCommerce order/inventory system is a bonus, not a requirement.

• $70,000 – $90,000 plus super, depending on experience.

• Off the counter, out of the branch. Regular hours, a proper desk, and no Saturday mornings.

• You're not on your own. Technical questions go to our experts - you'll never be left guessing in front of a customer.

• Early on you'll spend about a week with the management team at our warehouse in country Victoria, up on the Murray. This gives you a chance to learn the range, meet the crew and see how orders actually move. Travel and accommodation are on us, and it's not all work - dinners out, time on the river, and a round of golf for anyone who wants it.
