Are you an experienced A-Grade Electrician who takes pride in your work and wants a stable long-term role with consistent work?

JT Handyman Solutionz is growing, and we’re looking for a reliable, experienced A-Grade Electrician / Maintenance Electrician to join our Melbourne team full-time.

This is primarily an electrical role.

However, we operate across property maintenance, repairs and renovations, so we are looking for someone practical and versatile who is also comfortable completing basic general maintenance work when required.

We are specifically looking for an electrician who can independently complete electrical work, test their work, complete the required compliance documentation and Certificates of Electrical Safety, and potentially assist JT Handyman Solutionz in establishing and maintaining its Registered Electrical Contractor registration.

For the right applicant, there may also be an opportunity to act as the company’s Technical Supervisor, subject to meeting Energy Safe Victoria requirements.

About The Role

You’ll be completing electrical maintenance, repairs, fault finding, upgrades and installation works across Melbourne.

Every day is different.

One day you might be:

• Fault finding an electrical issue

• Replacing lights, switches or power points

• Completing electrical upgrades

• Carrying out electrical works during a renovation

• Attending an urgent maintenance callout

• Testing completed electrical works

• Completing Certificates of Electrical Safety and compliance documentation

The next day you may be assisting the wider maintenance team with basic property maintenance work.

Electrical work will remain the core of your role, but we are looking for someone with a practical mindset who is happy to assist with general maintenance when required rather than limiting themselves strictly to electrical tasks.

This role suits someone who enjoys fault finding, maintenance work, problem solving and variety.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be responsible for works including:

• Electrical maintenance and repairs

• Electrical fault finding and diagnostics

• Lighting repairs, replacement and upgrades

• Power point and switch replacement and installation

• Electrical equipment installation

• Electrical works associated with kitchens, bathrooms and renovations

• Testing and verification of electrical work

• Completing and lodging Certificates of Electrical Safety where required

• Electrical defect rectification

• Residential and commercial maintenance works

• Attending property management maintenance jobs

• Maintaining accurate job notes, photos and compliance records

• Communicating professionally with clients and office staff

• Completing electrical work safely and in accordance with Victorian requirements

• Identifying when electrical work requires inspection by a Licensed Electrical Inspector

• Assisting with the establishment and ongoing compliance of JT Handyman Solutionz as a Registered Electrical Contractor

• Potentially acting as JT Handyman Solutionz’s nominated Technical Supervisor, subject to Energy Safe Victoria requirements

• Assisting with supervision of apprentices or other electrical workers as the electrical division grows

• Assisting with basic general property maintenance where required

General Maintenance Work

Electrical work will be your primary responsibility.

However, we operate as a broader maintenance and renovation company, so we need someone who is also willing to assist with straightforward general maintenance tasks when required.

This may include:

• Door and hardware repairs

• Installing fixtures and fittings

• Minor property repairs

• Basic patching

• General maintenance inspections

• Property defect rectification

• Assisting other trades where appropriate

You will not be expected to perform licensed work outside your qualifications.

We are not looking for someone whose response to every non-electrical task is:

“I’m an electrician, that’s not my job.”

We want a practical tradesman who understands that electrical is their core trade but is willing to contribute to the wider team when required.

Requirements

To be considered, you’ll need:

• Current Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence

• Strong hands-on electrical experience

• Electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience

• Ability to independently test and verify completed electrical work

• Ability to complete required electrical compliance documentation

• Experience completing Certificates of Electrical Safety

• Current Australian driver’s licence

• White Card

• Own electrical hand tools

• Strong understanding of electrical safety and compliance requirements

• High attention to detail

• Professional communication skills

• Full Australian working rights

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• Meet Energy Safe Victoria requirements to act as a Technical Supervisor

• Have previously worked under or operated a Registered Electrical Contractor

• Have strong knowledge of REC compliance obligations

• Have experience completing and lodging Certificates of Electrical Safety

• Have 5+ years post-apprenticeship experience

• Have strong residential electrical maintenance experience

• Have commercial maintenance experience

• Have renovation experience

• Have experience supervising apprentices

• Have broader property maintenance experience

• Have dealt directly with homeowners, property managers and commercial clients

• Hold a Working With Children Check

• Hold a Police Check

• Want to help establish and grow an electrical division within a larger maintenance company
