Roofing project leader - major repairs and re-roofs

Location: Sydney NSW

Watertight is a leading plumbing and roofing maintenance company, delivering roofing projects for commercial, government, education, healthcare, industrial and retail clients.

We're looking for an experienced Roof Plumber who has grown beyond the tools and is ready to lead people, build capability and help grow one of the strongest roofing businesses across NSW, QLD and ACT.

This isn't just another Project Manager position. This would best suit an experienced roofing project manager or business owner of a roofing business who wants to join a growing business. You should have established relationships with subcontractors and potential client growth opportunities to bring to the team. You should still be very capable on site but best used coordinating jobs and overseeing quality delivery. These requirements will be key to selecting the right candidate.

You'll take ownership of our roofing projects delivery, leading projects from award through to completion while developing people in the team and helping grow the business.

You'll work closely with senior management and have the autonomy to make decisions that improve safety, quality, profitability and customer satisfaction.

Your role will include:

• Leading multiple commercial roofing projects across NSW and QLD

• Managing roofing supervisors and trades teams

• Quoting works and achieving sales and profit targets

• Coaching and mentoring roof plumbers and apprentices

• Planning projects - labour, materials and project resources

• Building strong relationships with clients and subcontractors

• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and on budget

• Driving quality workmanship and attention to detail

• Identifying opportunities for growth and continuous improvement

• Helping expand and strengthen Watertight's roofing business

We're not looking for someone who simply manages projects. We're looking for a leader.

You'll ideally have:

• Certificate III or IV in Roofing from TAFE

• General Construction Induction (White Card)

• Qualified Roof Plumber (essential)

• Extensive commercial roofing experience

• Extensive commercial roofing network - subcontractors and suppliers

• Experience leading roofing crews and supervisors

• Strong project management experience

• Ability to build trust with clients and your team

• Excellent organisational and communication skills

• Commercial acumen and problem-solving ability

• A passion for mentoring others

• High standards and pride in your work

• A current driver's licence

• Happy to complete police checks, WWCC, prestart medical, annual flu vaccinations, inductions and other client required checks

• Working at heights

• EWP rescue

Desirable but not required:

• First aid and CPR

• Previous experience as roofing business operations owner/ manager or project manager

Within your first 12 months you'll have:

• Galvanised a high-performing roofing team

• Standardised project delivery

• Developed future leaders within the business

• Strengthened relationships with key clients

• Helped grow new roofing clients

• Created systems that allow the business to scale

• Have a disciplined, regular cadence of reporting and tracking performance
