Assistant Year Coordinator - Commencing Term 1, 2027

As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, engagement and academic growth, we are seeking an outstanding educator to join our wellbeing team as an Assistant Year Coordinator, commencing Term 1, 2027.

This important leadership role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people while working collaboratively with students, families and staff to foster a positive and supportive year group culture. The successful applicant will support the Year Coordinator and Director of Middle School or Director of Senior School in providing pastoral, academic and administrative leadership for a specific year group.

The successful applicant will be a highly relational educator who is passionate about student wellbeing, committed to building positive relationships, and dedicated to supporting every student to thrive both academically and personally.

This is a Permanent Full-Time teaching position with a three-year (1-point) promotional appointment (2027–2029) commencing Term 1, 2027.

As part of our commitment to developing young men of character, faith and purpose, the Assistant Year Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the wellbeing, engagement and development of students within a designated year group.

Working closely with the Year Coordinator, Wellbeing Team, teaching staff and families, the successful applicant will assist in the coordination of pastoral care initiatives, monitor student attendance, engagement and behaviour, and contribute to the academic and personal growth of students. They will help foster a positive and inclusive cohort culture, ensuring students feel supported, connected and empowered to achieve their potential.

The role requires a visible and approachable leader who can build strong relationships with students and staff, respond proactively to student needs and contribute positively to the wellbeing culture of the College. The successful applicant will also support communication between home and school, assist with student wellbeing programs and contribute to initiatives that promote belonging, responsibility and student success.

The successful applicant will maintain a teaching allocation and demonstrate excellence as a classroom practitioner. They will be a collaborative and proactive team member who is committed to contemporary approaches to student wellbeing and pastoral leadership.

Essential Criteria

• A working understanding of, and commitment to, the Catholic ethos of a School in the Edmund Rice tradition.
• Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
• Qualified Primary or Secondary Teacher (note subject/s you are qualified to teach) with NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW.
• Demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner.
• A genuine commitment to student wellbeing and pastoral care.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and families.
• Exceptional communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to support students in achieving positive behavioural, wellbeing and academic outcomes.
• A proactive and visible approach to student support and engagement.
• Commitment to the holistic development of young people.

Highly Desirable

• Experience in student wellbeing, pastoral care or educational leadership.
• Experience working with adolescent boys in a school environment.
• Knowledge of contemporary wellbeing practices and restorative approaches.
• An interest in developing leadership capabilities and contributing to a thriving wellbeing culture.
