About the Role:
Mater Dei College is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable teacher to join us on a full-time, ongoing basis as the Head of Year to provide strategic leadership in the planning, development and implementation of student wellbeing, pastoral care and year-level initiatives, fostering a positive, inclusive and supportive environment that enables every student to thrive academically, socially and spiritually.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to fostering student wellbeing, positive relationships, and a strong sense of belonging within a contemporary Catholic school context.
The Head of Year is a key member of the College Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction of student wellbeing, pastoral care and the holistic development of students.
This position will commence 1 January 2027.
The Head of Year will be responsible for a variety of tasks that is inclusive of, but not limited to:
Leading the pastoral care, wellbeing and holistic development of students within the year group, fostering a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Monitoring student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and engagement, implementing appropriate interventions and working collaboratively with staff and families to support student success.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents/carers and staff to promote effective communication and strong partnerships.
Managing student behaviour in accordance with College policies and procedures, promoting restorative practices and positive student outcomes.
About You:
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and innovative educator who demonstrates a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.
You will:
Have the ability to teach across all year levels (Years 7–12).
Hold a tertiary qualification in Secondary Education.
Show strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to mentor and collaborate with colleagues.
Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Actively support and contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.
