SENIOR URBAN DESIGNER

About the role

Redbox Design Group is seeking a Senior Urban Designer to join our award-winning Canberra studio. We are a highly creative and professional team of Landscape Architects and Urbanists committed to design excellence and to building spaces that make people feel something wonderful. You will work on meaningful urban design projects in a supportive, creative team environment that values joy, collaboration, and excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Work on meaningful urban design projects, including greenfield precincts and communities, urban renewal, town centres, parks and play spaces

• Prepare urban design concepts, structure plans, masterplans, design frameworks and development guidelines

• Translate site analysis, planning requirements and client objectives into clear design responses

• Produce creative and precise plans, diagrams, graphics, reports and presentations

• Interact with clients at workshops and stakeholder presentations

• Collaborate with landscape architects, planners, engineers and other specialists

• Learn through project work, with support from experienced mentors and meaningful responsibility

• Contribute to a studio culture focused on creativity, shared success and continuous improvement

About you

• About 7+ years of industry experience

• A tertiary qualification in urban design, planning, landscape architecture, architecture, or a related discipline

• Strong skills in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite

• Experience with SketchUp, Rhino, GIS or other 3D and spatial design software would be valuable

• Some experience in landscape architecture or landscape design is a bonus

• A strong understanding of place, movement, built form and public realm design

• Clear graphic, written and verbal communication skills

• A good eye for design, detail and presentation

• A proactive mindset, strong motivation and good time management

• The ability to work independently and as part of a close team
