Chef (Full Time)

CBD Dumpling House is a busy and well-established Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Canberra City. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our professional kitchen team on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present a wide range of Chinese dishes to a consistently high standard.
• Prepare meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, sauces and other ingredients for service.
• Cook dishes using traditional Chinese cooking techniques, including stir-frying, steaming, braising and roasting.
• Assist with the preparation and production of dumplings, noodles, rice dishes and other menu items.
• Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation throughout service.
• Assist with menu planning and development of new dishes and seasonal offerings.
• Ensure food is prepared in accordance with recipes, quality standards and customer requirements.
• Monitor stock levels, food supplies and kitchen inventory and assist with ordering as required.
• Maintain appropriate food storage, stock rotation and waste-control procedures.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient preparation and service during busy periods.
• Assist with training and supervision of junior kitchen staff where required.

Skills and Experience

• Certificate IV in cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management
• At least 1-year experience working as a Chef in a busy commercial kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume restaurant environment.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team.
• Flexibility to work across lunch and dinner services, including weekends and public holidays.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
