About the role
Role OverviewOur client, a leading global technology and digital platform company, is seeking an experienced and passionate privacy lawyer to support compliance with the EU E-Evidence framework and related law-enforcement data requests on a 6-12-month contract. The role will involve advising on electronic data disclosure matters, including law enforcement and regulatory requests, preservation orders, and privacy assessments.
The role will commence in September 2026 and will be based in Australia. Candidates should have strong experience in privacy, data protection, GDPR, regulatory compliance, and government or law enforcement engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview, assess, and respond to law enforcement and judicial authority requests for electronic data. Advise on compliance obligations under the EU E-Evidence Regulation and related legal frameworks. Manage urgent disclosure requests, data preservation requests, and other regulatory demands. Conduct legal analysis relating to privacy, data protection, confidentiality, and data disclosure obligations. Assess the validity and enforceability of government, judicial, and regulatory requests. Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Security, and Trust & Safety teams to support regulatory investigations, cyber/privacy incidents, and compliance initiatives.
About YouA minimum of 6+ years PQE in privacy law, data protection, regulatory compliance, or related legal disciplines.Demonstrable expertise in GDPR, European privacy frameworks, and advising on data disclosure obligations, privacy investigations, or regulatory compliance matters.Experience in handling law enforcement requests, government or regulatory inquiries, court orders, investigations, data breaches, cyber incident response, or privacy incident management.Qualified lawyer admitted in the UK, Ireland, or another European jurisdiction, with a preference for candidates holding an EU qualification.
