Disability Support Worker (Casual)

*Casual Disability Support Workers Wanted – Flagstaff Hill*

IMMEDIATE START AVAILABLE with the right certificates. We are a small business and require long term support workers to assist two young males (aged in their 20’s) with multiple disabilities (ASD, OCD to name a few) in the Flagstaff Hill area. As a support worker you will have a good understanding of the complexities experienced by those with multiple disabilities and the flexibility this requires. Your role will encompass the provision of high quality emotional, physical, social and behavioural support in a home, employment and community environment. Additionally, the two young males proudly own and operate their own vending machine business and require support to undertake the relevant tasks. We require our support workers to be fully involved in the running of the business in a way that positively reflects the young men and their professional enterprise. In this position you will be employed not subcontracted. (this means we do not take on independent support workers)

Pay Rate: Casual rate $45.94 per hour, plus First Aid allowance

Hours:

4 to 8 hours per day for 2 days per week (Monday/ Tuesday)

However, there is opportunity to grow hours over time for workers who demonstrate superior support qualities and reliability.

Key responsibilities and duties:

-Provide support and care that meets the day-to-day needs

-Carry out personal care duties such as assisting with showering, dressing, personal hygiene and toileting

-Ability to work well in a team and liaise with family members

-Perform household duties including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, gardening and grocery shopping

-Maintain documentation as required (Case notes, Behaviour incident reports, etc)

-Supporting the young men in their work and personal endeavours

Essential Criteria:

-English must be your first language (Need fluency and minimal accent due to a non verbal client, and client in a stage of speech development)

-Must have computer/ phone skills (be able to type, minor formatting, use of Microsoft word, google docs and be able to copy and paste), also should be able to take photos, use Facebook and Facebook messenger.

-Comfortable with personal care

-Athletically fit enough to run if needed (Highly desired – Personal Training Background)

-The ability to follow instructions and routines

Relevant Certifications including: (we understand that some people may need to update or apply for some of these)

*First aid certificate Including CPR

*NDIS Worker Check (DCSI Clearance is still valid then we will also accept that) (https://screening.sa.gov.au/applications/application-information-for-individuals)

*Full driver’s license

*NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Training Module Certificate (https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/training-course)
