About the Role

As a Cook at Porgies, you’ll play an important role in delivering our breakfast and lunch menu to a consistently high standard. Working alongside our kitchen and front-of-house teams, you’ll help ensure smooth service, excellent presentation and a clean, safe and organised kitchen.

This role would suit someone who enjoys the pace of a busy café, takes pride in their food and works well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch dishes to Porgies’ recipes and presentation standards.
• Manage your section efficiently during busy breakfast, brunch and lunch services.
• Complete daily food preparation and ensure the kitchen is ready for service.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, portioning and presentation.
• Assist with receiving, rotating and correctly storing stock.
• Monitor ingredients and communicate stock or preparation requirements to the kitchen team.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, allergen and temperature-control requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workstation throughout each shift.
• Minimise food waste and use ingredients responsibly.
• Work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, kitchen hands and front-of-house team members.
• Communicate effectively during busy service periods and contribute to a positive kitchen culture.
• Assist with opening, closing and cleaning duties as required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working as a cook in a café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
• Is confident preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch dishes.
• Can work efficiently under pressure during busy café service.
• Has a strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
• Takes pride in presentation, consistency and attention to detail.
• Is reliable, punctual and organised.
• Communicates well and enjoys being part of a team.
• Has a positive attitude and is willing to learn and develop.
• Is available for morning and daytime shifts, including weekends as required.

Pay: $54,696.32 – $84,466.28 per year
