About the Role 

As a Volunteer Disability Program Music Teacher, you will support DPV Health’s Centre-Based Disability Program in the Whittlesea LGA by leading engaging and interactive music sessions. Using instruments such as guitar, keyboard, percussion, or vocals, you will create a fun, inclusive, and therapeutic environment where participants can explore music, express themselves, and develop new skills. 

You will work closely with Disability Instructors to integrate music into the Centre-Based Program, supporting participants in achieving their NDIS goals through creative expression, sensory stimulation, and social interaction. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist staff in setting up and packing up music-related activities. 

• Lead interactive music sessions tailored to participant abilities and interests. 

• Encourage and support participants in engaging with music, dance, and movement activities. 

• Work collaboratively with Disability Instructors to incorporate music into broader recreational and skill-building activities. 

• Support participants with individual communication strategies to enhance engagement and connection. 

• Maintain a respectful and inclusive approach in all interactions with participants and staff. 

About You 

To succeed in this role, you will bring: 

• Ability to play a musical instrument (e.g., guitar, keyboard, percussion). 

• Experience in music performance, teaching, or facilitation (formal or informal). 

• Passion for using music as a tool for engagement and well-being. 

• Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, disability support and inclusive practices. 

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

• Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt sessions to diverse needs. 

• Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment. 

• Commitment to DPV Health’s values and Excellent Care Framework.
